With great power, comes greater responsibility - needs to be realized by our influential and rich celebrities. While the brand might be extremely vigilant when it comes to finalizing that ‘One’ celebrity who truly personifies the brand, what is most critical is the discretion with which the celebrity agrees to attach his commitments with one.
Let’s take the recent example of the Pan Bahar ad featuring Pierce Brosnan. I mean what was Brosnan on when finalizing the ad to claim that he didn’t know that he was endorsing a tobacco product? Its hard to believe that he said yes to holding a can of the betel nut brand without even knowing what product was he endorsing. By the way, not sure how many of you are aware that Pierce lost his first wife and daughter to cancer. Difficult to find solace in this kinda humor.
Comes next the youth icon of today Ranveer Singh posing slinging a woman on his shoulder, suggesting women are nothing more than mere objects, and an apparent punch line by the side that says "Don't hold back. Take your work home." I had say, take your opinion home.

Appreciate that the brand realized their mistake and pulled down all its hoardings and also apologized to Netizens but did Mr. Celebrity realize his mistake? Do all celebrities realize the critical responsibility they carry on their shoulders? The responsibility of conveying what is good or bad to one and all. Anybody, who uses his or her charm to sell a product or service actually entices a consumer with personal brand equity. No doubt can be posed to the fact that advertisements a strong impact on the society and celebrities become a part of customer preferences as a strong impact on the society.
In this modern world where the law has evolved to such an extent that even a corporation or a company being an artificial person has a corporate social responsibility, then why should the highly privileged citizens of the country not be made liable for endorsing the low quality products or for being so highly irresponsible towards the countrymen who have given them the status they are enjoying.
About time, celebs start thinking of Individual Social Responsibility
